Puppetry for Early Childhood Educators with Puppet Showplace Theatre

Description: This hands-on workshop will give early childhood educators a chance to learn and practice the time-honored techniques that make puppetry a powerful tool for engaging the imagination. Puppet Showplace Theatre's professional puppeteers will share tricks of the trade, focusing on the basics of character animation, movement-based communication, and visual storytelling. The class will also learn a variety of fun performance games and craft activities that can be adapted for use in the classroom. Building on these core skills, participants will explore ways that puppetry can be used to enhance story time, encourage dramatic play, and creatively deal with classroom situations.
